    Online Therapy in California

For five years, California was home to me, and when asked, it still feels like my home.  It was the place I found myself, found my people, and found my grounding space.  A few times a year I return to remind myself of why it has such a special place in my heart. The older I get, the longer the visits are becoming with an official virtual office being established during the pandemic. My home away from home has now become my virtual office away from my virtual office. I could not be more excited!

Online Therapy is a great option for anyone seeking balance and self-growth. Furthermore, online therapy allows you to meet with a therapist at a time that works in your schedule. Whether you live in Orange County, Riverside, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or anywhere in between, online therapy allows you to work with a therapist to achieve your mental health goals. Working with an online therapist, like myself gives you the tools to live your life the way YOU want to live. A life that allows you to thrive. There are many options for traditional therapy in the state of California, but online therapy offers you so many benefits you may not have considered before.

Online Therapy in California Comes to You

A wise mentor asked me once what my ideal client looked like? I have never really thought about an ideal client? Counseling is all about meeting the client where they are at. So, we don’t usually use the word ideal. However, when I thought about it for a while and this is what I came up with:

California street sign that says south California 1 on it.

    • I like working with people who are motivated to change.
    • I enjoy working with independent thinkers who have strong personalities and big dreams.
    • My specialty is helping clients who have high expectations manage them effectively.
    • I specialize in working with people experiencing Imposter Syndrome.
    • I’m great at helping clients who fear failure.
    • My ideal client may be really independent and successful, but they want to find a connection and be “known” on an intimate level.
    • I’m a blunt therapist. Therefore, I really like working with clients who are blunt and call me out when needed.
    • My ideal client can manage compassionate, direct feedback, and show accountability when needed.
    • Most importantly, I absolutely LOVE working with other mental health professionals and providing Therapy for Therapists™

    What is Therapy for Therapists™?

First, let me take a moment and get in your head…

You’re overwhelmed, juggling too many responsibilities, feeling like you have to fix everybody. You absorb your clients’ emotional pain and trauma of day after day. Week after week. Month after month. Year after year. But, be honest, when is that time you rang out your own emotional sponge? You give that advice to everyone you see. But, the one person who truly needs it the most is you. Your beginning to show the signs of burnout and compassion fatigue.

You might be initially hesitant to seek out help and support for personal matters. Even though you encourage others to do so. After all, being authentic means being open, raw, and vulnerable to work through the barriers you are experiencing. And that’s uncomfortable. Yet, these are all reasons why therapists need therapy.

Ultimately, you are a therapist for a reason. Together, we can make sure that your personal identity outside of your practice is strong, balanced, full of life, and includes a hobby. Because, wven though you have all the book knowledge on how to practice good self-care, you probably struggle, just like we all do, to implement these skills in your personal life.

Check out my program Therapy for Therapists™. I can offer you a space where you can simply be yourself. You can let down the facade of being the clinical ‘expert’ and embrace being the client. In counseling, you will be respected for the amazing clinician that you are regardless of the things you’re struggling with.

Why should I consider online therapy in California? Is it as good as, or better than traditional counseling?

    Fabulous question!

Let me ask you… Have you seen California freeways? Have you ever had to sit for hours in LA traffic? What does your weekly schedule look like? How much wiggle room do you truly have to drive to an appointment, be vulnerable, then drive back to finish your workday?

If you can answer yes to any of these questions, then online therapy may be a great fit for your busy California lifestyle.

The online therapy can meets your unique needs, right where you are at. You can use 3a emails (even though they are not encouraged for your own balance!). Or, you can make weekend appointments that match your insane schedule. Plus, you have the ability to meet with me from the comfort of your own home, or from the beach, basically where you are comfortable, at a time that works for you. So, you can achieve your mental health goals without having to tackle any of the California freeways that are lots of fun until rush hour happens.

Life isn’t always easy. Online Therapy in California Can Help!

Sometimes, even the strongest people among us need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. Unfortunately, many professionals are experiencing burnout and a lack of enthusiasm at an alarming rate.

Therapy is not about being broken or weak, it is about being real, vulnerable. Therapy gives you the opportunity to be really known and accepted for who you are at the core.

We all are human at the core which means we all deal with the common humanity of life.

    My Approach to Online Therapy

I am often asked what my “clinical style or approach” is? That’s a tough question to answer. But, I will try to explain it.

I am a graduate school professor with SW@Simmons. I tell my students that ECLECTIC is not the correct answer in a job interview. It sends the message that you are a jack/jill of all trades, and master of none. For example, I would not go to my amazing primary care physician to set a broken bone.

But, my clinical approach is to meet you EXACTLY where you are at. Right now. In the muck of your life. Empowering you to reach your goals so that you can thrive. So, that means I am assertively present to ensure that you meet your goals for therapy. There is a fine line between assertive and blunt. But, in the end it is all about holding you accountable to the goals we mutually establish in the beginning of our therapeutic relationship. To do this I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT).

The techniques may mean nothing to you or they may be exactly what you are looking for. The bottom line, I will use any technique that mirrors your personality, your strengths, and your goals so that you can thrive. So, I am eclectic. But in a uniquely fabulous way – just like you!

As an online therapist, I can help you achieve your mental health goals

Sound like an adventure you are ready to take? I am excited to be able to meet you, empower you, and hold you accountable to reacing your goals (we all need a kick in the butt sometimes). But, most importantly I am looking forward to partnering with you to address the barriers that you’re experiencing so you can return to being the rock star you were created to be. I am committed to working with you to get you back to the high achiever you are – with realistic expectations for life, yourself, and those around you.
