Online Therapy in Tennessee
Southern hospitality does not always mean that life is filled with sweet tea and smiles. Balancing your high stress position in Chattanooga with social activities, traffic, and responsibilities can be challenging. Perhaps, you’re having concerns about going to counseling in the small (but growing) town of Franklin. You’re worried about running into someone in the waiting room. Therapy sometimes can be one more thing to be added to an already crazy schedule! And I don’t want that! Online Therapy is an option for anyone seeking balance, looking for self growth and wanting to maximize the efficiency of your schedule. This will allow you to live your life the way YOU want to live. A life that allows you to thrive. There are many options for traditional therapy in the state of Tennessee, but online therapy allows offers you so many benefits you may not have considered before.
Online Therapy in Tennessee Comes to You
A wise therapist asked me once what my ideal client looked like? I have never really thought about an ideal client? Counseling is all about meeting the client where they are at. So, we don’t usually use the word ideal. However when I thought about it for a while and this is what I came up with:
- I like working with people who are motivated to change. They are independent thinkers and have strong personalities and big dreams.
- My specialty is helping clients who have high expectations manage them effectively.
- I specialize in working with people experiencing Imposter Syndrome.
- I’m great at helping clients who fear failure.
- My ideal client may be really independent and successful, but they want to find connection and be “known” on an intimate level.
- I’m a blunt therapist. Therefore, I really like working with clients who are blunt and call me out when needed. My ideal client can manage compassionate, direct feedback, and show accountability when needed.
Why online therapy in Tennessee? Is it as good as, or better than in person therapy? These are great questions!
Traditional therapy is an excellent resource. It allows you to meet with a qualified counselor that partners with you to achieve whatever goals you set for therapy. However, in the words of one emergency room physician I have been working with for three years, “where do I find the time to do that?.” She is a rock star when she is at work, but works crazy hours, and struggles to find work/life balance. Recently, she said she has no clue where the “off switch” is.
This is where an online therapy format can meet your needs, right where you are at. You can use 3a emails, even though they are not encouraged for your own balance! Or, you can make weekend appointments that match your insane schedule. Plus, you have the ability to meet with me from the comfort of your own home, where you are comfortable, at a time that works for you. So, you can achieve your mental health goals even if you commute to Spring Hill from Nashville, or even when working from home in Clarksville.
Life isn’t always easy. Online Therapy in Tennessee Can Help!
Sometimes, even the strongest people among us need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. Unfortunately, many professionals are experiencing burnout and a lack of enthusiasm at an alarming rate.
Therapy is not about being broken or weak, it is about being real, vulnerable. Therapy gives you the opportunity to be really known and accepted for who you are at the core.
We all are human at the core which means we all deal with the common humanity of life.
My Approach to Online Therapy
I am often asked what my “clinical style or approach” is? That’s a tough question to answer, but I will try.
I’m a graduate school professor with SW@Simmons. I tell my students that ECLECTIC is not the correct answer in a job interview. It sends the message that you are a jack/jill of all trades, and master of none. For example, I would not go to my amazing primary care physician to set a broken bone.
But, my clinical approach is to meet you EXACTLY where you are at. Right now. In the muck of your life. Empowering you to reach your goals so that you can thrive. So, that means I am assertively present to ensure that you meet your goals for therapy. There is a fine line between assertive and blunt. But, in the end it is all about holding you accountable to the goals we mutually establish in the beginning of our therapeutic relationship. To do this I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT).
The techniques may mean nothing to you or they may be exactly what you are looking for. The bottom line, I will use any technique that mirrors your personality, your strengths, and your goals so that you can thrive. So, I am eclectic. But in a uniquely fabulous way – just like you!
I can help you achieve your mental health goals in Online Therapy
Sound like an adventure you are ready to take? I am excited to be able to meet you, empower you, hold you accountable (we all need a kick in the butt sometimes), and most importantly partner with you to address the barriers that are present so you can return to being the rock star you were created to be. I am committed to partnering with you to get you back to the high achiever you are – with realistic expectations for life, yourself, and those around you.
